Today

No, really. Right now. Quit your job. You won't believe how incredibly good you'll feel right after you quit. Like the weight of expectations from dozens, hundreds or even thousands of thankless corporate drones has been lifted from your shoulders. The day will literally be yours to seize. Often people walk for hours in an intense state of heightened awareness at the idiosyncratic nuances that fill this beautiful world. The way that cracks in a sidewalk can resemble the profile of old friends or the sound of leaves rustling in the wind resembles the ocean waves of the Caribbean. So everyday is a Quit Your Job Day, because "Today would be a great day to quit your job."

Today would be a great day to quit your job.

August 9th is International Quit Your Job Day

  • Any Monday

Monday. Yes, this Monday. We know you might be reading this on a weekend and it would be pretty hard to quit right now. You don't even have your bosses personal phone number. At least we hope you don't. This Monday would be ideal, giving you the precious time you need to steel your nerves and to select from the variety of possible ways to quit. We feel Monday is probably the perfect day for you to quit.

  • Why August 9th?

There have been a great number of quitters throughout history, but only one person has ever quit the job of President of the United States. On August 8th, 1974, Nixon announced his resignation on live TV. However, like all good pendants, we note that his official resignation did not occur until the next day when he submitted his letter of resignation.

If you are not working “at will” and instead are under legal contract, we advise you to seek professional legal counsel before attempting to quit your job. We are not lawyers. Don't listen to anything we say... except about the part where we tell you to go talk to a lawyer.
